How Do I Make Changes to My LLC After it is Approved?
At some point after your LLC has been approved, there will come a time when you need to make changes to the information associated with your LLC. Examples of changes you may want to make are: changing the name of your LLC, updating the principal office address, changing your registered agent or the registered office address, and changing the owners (members) of your LLC. In order to make any of these changes, a document is filed with the state that makes these changes part of the official record. Below you will find the name of the document, how to file, and the filing fee for making any of these changes.
A note about changing the registered agent and/or registered office address: most states have a separate form for this change, and it typically has a lower filing fee. If this is the only change you need to make, you may want to consider using a Change of Registered Agent/Office form for your state.
A note about changing or updating the owners (members) of your LLC: not all states list the members of the LLC in your Articles/Certificate of Organization. If the owners (members) are not listed, you can't update or change them with the state. Instead, this change can be done in your Operating Agreement.
